Great value for money with a quiet and comfortable room separate from the main hostel. The location was perfect and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

The breakfast offerings could be improved with more variety.

The atmosphere at Backpackers Inn is cute and cozy. We enjoyed meeting fellow travelers in the communal kitchen, sharing stories and meals. The location is fantastic, right in the famous Market Area, close to the Art Gallery and museums. The hostel even lends skates for free skating on the canal. there are good food stores and a movie theater nearby. The friendly and helpful staff enhanced our overall experience. I highly recommend this hostel for a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Staff were friendly. It's has a cozy living room. It's quite cheap. There are people who lives there for a couple months and they could cook meals instead of eating out all the time. The location is excellent -- very close to downtown, walking distance to the parliament, and the art gallery.

The whole place feels dirty. I lived in a 10-person room. I don't mind the room is packed, but the air is always stuffed even we have windows open and fan turned on. The pillow is too flat to be comfortable. No locks provided for lockers. Someone in my room had been there for months, and has piled TONS of stuff around the place - clothes, muffins and glasses littering on the floor. This probably won't be the case for everyone, but it definitely leaves a really bad impression.

What an ideal location for anyone looking to see Ottawa.

It is not a private or luxurious accommodation nor did I expect it to be.

the location was fantastic, just a short walk to popular attractions and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. the shared rooms were clean and spacious, with lockers for our belongings. the bathrooms were well-maintained and there was always hot water. the lounge area was a nice place to relax and meet other travelers.

The atmosphere could be a bit overwhelming at times, especially in the evenings when some guests and staff were partying loudly.

The staff were really nice. I left something there and I called them the second day for it. Mark sent it to you right away. Mike was also very responsive.

People sleep too early. There wasn't really a sense of community there. Also, there should be more desks or working spaces.

Cost, location, variety of people

Parkingg was tight.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Helpful staff. Convenient location near popular attractions. Quiet atmosphere.

It is very close to the Byward Market, and also close to the main dhopping streets of Ottawa. The staff was very welcoming and helpful to find my way and good plans downtown. Big lounge room to socialize with other guests and the fridge was big enough so that each of us could stock their personal food in it. Very good.

The owner required us to take our shoes off everywhere in the house, which was not convenient at all. On top of that, they have a big cat which leaves hair all aver the place. Quite anoying for people who are allergic to cats! And also wherever you sit, the cat's hair will stick on your clothes.

Never too loud, and everyone, both staff and guest, is respectful to each other. Plus, in the event of Ottawa's Animation Festival, there's always a good chance of meeting someone who's attending and who happens to share the same bunk room.

Not every bathroom comes with enough accessories like soap and shampoo, which I saw fit to purchase myself (travel-size). Also, the towel that I brought along went missing, but the staff were kind enough to give me one of their towels in return.

Staff is efficient and friendly. The price is certainly right!

My worst problem with hostels is having to climb to a top bunk. Luckily on this trip I arrived early enough to have a choice.
